Discipleship is a process. It begins when you become a child of God and continues until we enter eternity. We are always to be growing in our faith, getting to know God our Father better and better, and being transformed more and more into the likeness of Jesus our Savior. At Ridgecrest we call the process Next Steps Discipleship. And if you are here long enough you will regularly be challenged to take your next step toward maturity in Christ. Each person is unique and at a different place in their spiritual journey than those around them so your Next Step will be unique to you. That being said, there are some options and opportunities for discipleship that we offer as a church. These are highlighted at the bottom of this page.

Here are a few examples of some Next Step Challenges to consider:

If you are not a believer then honestly consider embracing the gospel.
If you are an attender but not a member then take the Membership Matters Course.
If you are a believer but have not yet been baptized then take the plunge.
If you want to know God better then read, ponder, and obey His Word daily.
If you want to break a habit of sin then start a habit of Scripture memory.
If you attend a worship service only then find a Connect Group to plug in to.
If you have don't have a place to serve then find a ministry area where you can use your giftedness.
If you have never been on a mission trip then GO.
If you give out of your abundance then find out what it means to give sacrificially and generously.
If you want your prayer life to become richer then find some prayer mentors to pray with regularly.
If you don't know how to share the gospel ask a pastor for help and get trained.
If you want to see real life-change then find someone to disciple you.
If you want be a Great Commission believer then find someone to disciple.

Connect Groups - It is one thing to enjoy worshipping with a community of believers in church; it is yet another thing to EXPERIENCE community by being a part of a small group of believers who can encourage one another, care for one another, pray for one another, learn from one another, rejoice and grieve with one another, and serve with one another. At Ridgecrest, getting involved with a Connect Group is a primary NEXT STEP in the discipleship process. Our CGs are designed to help you better connect to God (through study of His Word), connect to people (through fellowship), and connect to our community (through ministry together in the Durham area). These groups meet on Sunday mornings at three different times: 8:15-9:15 AM, 9:30-10:30 AM, and 10:45-11:45 AM.

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.
— Matthew 28:19-20

D-Groups -  A D-Group consists of 3-5 men or women who are seeking to be intentional about growing in their faith. They are for those who want to be discipled and to learn how to disciple others. The groups meet weekly/bi-weekly to do a couple of things: 1) To discuss a chapter of a book or a Scripture passage that they are reading together, and 2) To hold one another accountable regarding certain spiritual disciplines that they each want to make sure they are pursuing in their lives. D-Groups are organized in late August. The commitment is for one semester at a time. Those who choose to be in a D-Group are expected to come to each gathering having prepared adequately to share in the conversation. For more information contact Shay Reyner
